The AA Restaurant Guide: |
Not quite where you might expect to find somewhere delivering such imaginative, clear-flavoured cuisine, but this ambitious modern restaurant - located in a Victorian listed building - is well worth uncovering. High-backed leather and suede chairs, contemporary art on lemon walls, white table linen and a deep-red carpet cut a simple but effective style. The kitchen clearly has skill and potential, with presentation elegant and sophisticated and ingredients of high quality. The appealing, well-priced repertoire cuts a modern European line, with starters, mains and desserts all one-priced, save a few supplements for the more luxury items; perhaps ham hock, wood pigeon and foie gras terrine or an assiette of Barbary duck served with potted cabbage, Lyonnaise potato and thyme jus. One to watch. |
